Dow Jones Sustainability Index, Worldwide
For the past seven years running, Total has earned its place in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI) in the Oil and Gas sector. Total was also listed on the DJSI 2011 European Index. In 2009, Total SA was named a Supersector leader, ranking first in the Oil and Gas sector of the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI) Worldwide.
The DJSI Worldwide considers 2,500 companies globally across 57 industries. The members of the DJSI follow a best-in-class approach to sustainability on a global and regional level. Inclusion is recognition of leadership and commitment to sustainability practices. Total is one of 20 oil and gas producers represented globally.
In addition, the DJSI performs a thorough analysis of corporate economic, environmental and social performance, assessing issues such as corporate governance, risk management, branding, climate change mitigation, supply chain standards and labor practices.
Total has been included in the DJSI Worldwide Index since 2004 and the DJSI Europe Index since 2005.
