Total E&P Canada Overview

Total E&P Canada is a Calgary-based energy company focused on oil and gas exploration and production in the Athabasca Oil Sands region of Alberta.

We are a wholly owned subsidiary of Total S.A. (Total), the world’s fifth largest publicly traded integrated energy company, based in Paris, France.  As part of the Total global energy group, Total E&P Canada brings a strong balance sheet, world-wide operational experience, best practices, innovation and new technology to the Athabasca Oil Sands, as well as a proven commitment to sustainable development.

As part of Total’s global research and technology development network, we are investing significantly in oil sands research to improve efficiencies and reduce our environmental footprint here and abroad. We are also supporting a number of research projects throughout Canada's universities.

Supporting a Sustainable Future

Total E&P Canada’s goal is to build a strong, sustainable position in the Athabasca region through the expansion of our current joint venture Fort Hills and Surmont assets, and through production of the Total-operated Joslyn and Northern Lights assets. We will continue to pursue future opportunities and partnerships as part of our long-term growth strategy to expand our Canadian portfolio.

Canada's oil sands play a critical role in supplying long-term global energy demand. As we develop our portfolio, our focus is to combine cost efficiency with top-tier environmental and social performance to deliver the best possible projects for all of our stakeholders.

Investing in Communities

Although our Total-operated projects are still in the design and engineering phases, we are committed to stakeholder engagement and the long-term betterment of the communities in which we live and operate. Since 2009, Total has invested more than $8 million to support community organizations in the Wood Buffalo Region and Calgary.

Building a Team

Our employees are our greatest strength and we are proud to build a team in Canada committed to the long-term sustainable development of the Athabasca oil sands.
