Keyano College Unveils "Total Greenhouse"
In April, 2008 Keyano College unveiled the new "Total Greenhouse," a unique partnership between Total E&P Canada, Keyano College and the Greentech Greenstart Project.
Mobile Greenhouse Laboratory
Valued at more than $150,000, Total donated a mobile greenhouse, its hybrid tow vehicle, and program support to facilitate hands-on science education to local and regional schools in the Fort McMurray area.
The Mobile Greenhouse Laboratory is taken out "on location" several times per year so that children in Grades K-12 can undertake science discovery about plants and lifecycles, including root, stem, leaf, flower parts and functions, propagation methods, and reproductive structures.
The Mobile Greenhouse Laboratory not only serves as a tool for educating children and youth in the region, it also addresses some of Keyano College’s academic priorities. The greenhouse will provide a teaching lab for the college’s Bachelor of Education students and a hands-on lab for Environmental students.
