Total E&P Canada is a proud and responsible member of the communities in which we operate. We are committed to investing in the people and places that make our communities thrive, whether it is in relation to capacity building, preserving heritage or supporting institutions involved in education, recreation and youth.
Community Investment Program
Our Community Investment Program supports registered charities and not-for-profit societies whose services are provided in locations in which we operate or which have a connection to our multinational operations. See the Funding page for details about funding requests.
Our grant awards are based on the company-wide policy of local content development, that is, projects and initiatives that will enhance the lives of the communities in which we live and work.
Over the past three years, Total E&P Canada has invested millions in community investment, capacity building, environmental stewardship and community support. This includes:
- helping build sport and fitness facilities in Fort McMurray
- supporting First Nations heritage and educational events at the Fort McKay First Nation and Janvier First Nation
- supporting several arts groups and community service agencies in Calgary and Edmonton
- rebuilding the fort at Fort Saskatchewan and sending hundreds of children to magic and circus camp at Total Under the Big Top in Strathcona County
Total Foundation
To further assist with the philanthropic activities in
countries where Total operates, our global Total
Foundation emphasizes and supports long-term
partnerships in every area of our activity. In addition
to providing financial support, the Foundation seeks
to utilize the work of experts to expand human
knowledge through community support, culture and environment.
Read more at our Foundation page, or visit the global Total Foundation website (external site).
Employee Matching Program
Total Canada has instituted an Employee Gift Matching program. Through this program, the company matches employee donations to registered charitable organizations (to a maximum yearly amount). Any registered charity chosen by an emloyee is eligible for gift matching.
In addition to financial giving, Total Canada has donated employee time to work in the community. An example of this was during our first 'Day of Caring' in May, 2009 when more than sixty Total Canada employees reached out to the Calgary community.
