Commitment to Sustainable Development
Total E&P Canada is committed to achieving and maintaining sustainability through the responsible development of Canada’s oil sands. At Total, we focus not only on our regulatory license to operate, but also on our social license to keep operating.
Every employee is an ambassador for the company, so we ensure our employees understand our sustainable development priorities, and embrace them in their day-to-day activities.
Leo Piciacchia, VP, Sustainable Development and HSE
We know that our company’s growth and long-term success depend on meeting society’s expectations for sustainable resource development. In 2010, Total created a Sustainable Development Department to ensure sustainable development practices were fully embedded in our corporate culture. Through the assistance and guidance of our SD Department, our economic, social and environmental performance is reviewed at each stage of a project’s development.
Total E&P Canada HSE and SD Charter
Total E&P Canada’s Health, Safety, and Environment Policy and Sustainable Development Charter is signed by our CEO and endorsed by Total Executive Leadership Team. It outlines our commitment to achieving and maintaining sustainability through the responsible development of Canada’s oil sands. The Charter provides a common reference document that sets out the ethical values and principles which guide and motivate the day-to-day actions of our employees and contractors, and informs stakeholders of our approach.
