The Joslyn North Mine project is currently in its engineering phase, led by the operator Total E&P Canada in partnership with Suncor Energy, Occidental Petroleum and Inpex. As a large mining project, Joslyn requires extensive planning and design effort. In May 2014, Total decided with its partners to focus on ongoing engineering studies to further optimize the development plan and unlock additional value from this quality asset. Studies will aim at maximizing project value, reducing costs and increasing robustness of the development plan of this mega project.
The Joslyn Asset covers an area of just over 221 square kilometres. The Joslyn North Mine portion of the Lease is expected to yield over 874 million barrels of bitumen over its 20 year lifespan at a production rate of approximately 160,000 barrels per day.
